Check FIRST to make sure that accidents really ARE covered; usually
they are not.

***IF*** accidents are covered:

Find the address for your state Department of Consumer Protection.

Federal Trade Commission:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/consumer.shtm

If either was sold or shipped by mail then the postal regulations may
come into effect. (BTW, if you or anyone here receive something you
did not order and are billed for it:
http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/merch.htm .
We finally had
to contact the Postmaster when the publisher of cooking magazines,
cooking videos, cooking tv series, and cook books sent us UNordered
things and billed us for them after 4 or 5 times contacting them by
a combination of email and USPS mail trying to get them to stop.)

If paid by credit card mention that you plan to make your credit card
company aware.

If ordered through someone, let that place know. We had a problem
with never receiving a piece of luggage ordered through Amazon
from a secondary merchant, and that merchant also never sending the
replacement piece they offered when they ran out of the original. After
several months of frustration I contacted Amazon and Amazon got us a
refund very, very rapidly; we never had to go any further. They keep
a tight rein over their secondary sources.

Write to SONY and put right on the top which federal agencies you will
copy the letter to IF you are not satisfied. Give them a chance.
Include copies of documentation including when it was shipped.

Many warranties are from TIME OF PURCHASE rather than TIME OF RECEIPT
but on the other hand many companies prefer avoiding mention to the
authorities.

Do check first, though, to make sure that accidents are covered.
