After reading your post I thought a response was in order.
 
Though I can understand your complaint on cleaning plastic bottom cages we
found a wonderful alternative aand are slowly replenishing shelter cages.
 
Ferret Wise folks happened across Martins Cages at a show a year or so ago
the cages were impressive.  Later we discussed some alternative ( custom)
designs.  NOw we are pleased to say we have plastic pull out pans ( no wire
floor above) which are very easy to clean.  Something shelters can
certainly appreciate!
 
I think these cages are WONDERFUL and easy to clean!
