here at the rescue we have been using Galaxie D for years - have on 2
occasions brought in a ferret showing no signs of distemper but by the
time it showed it's ugly head, the others in quarantine were exposed.
Those who had the shots with enough time to build up an immunity it had
no effects at all, those with a little less time had a few symptoms but
pulled through with no lasting effect, those who had just come in near
that time - well both times we lost 2 ferrets (out of 70 to 100 ferrets
here, that is a wonder).

So we know the vaccine worked. HOWEVER, they are discontinuing it. Now
we need to find another vaccine that is available at a decent price.
what are you other rescues using? By our giving the vaccine as they
come in the door, not only is it getting into their system faster (I
cannot run to the vet every time a ferret is turned in - I go every
Tuesday) but also it saves us $10 a shot from what the vet charges.
Multiply that by the 200 to 300 that go through here a year, and that
is WOW.

anybody got suggestions?
