I read that book several years ago when I was a kid ... it's GREAT! It's
about this girl named Elizabeth whose father is a zoologist, and their
house is absolutely overrun with critters (Fred the Ferret and the backyard
ibix are two notable ones).

Elizabeth wants to run for class president, but everyone thinks she's weird
because of all the animals. I won't give too much away, but I will say
that it has a happy ending and she learns to appreciate her situation.

I remembered that book when I decided to get a ferret. From what I recall,
it's a fairly accurate representation of ferrets: michevious, funny, and
quick. :-)

acutally.")
