My wife just brought home a 6 mo old male shepard/collie mix from the humane
society. Any advice on how to train him to coexist with my ferrets & cat
would be much appreciated. The cat is smart enough to hide but the ferrets
are fearless, begging to be let out even as the puppy slobbers at the cage
door.

After watching him take one of my ferrets' stuffed animals and toss it up in
the air before shredding it made me think my wife has made a mistake. He's
being fixed today and we'll give him some leeway to get used to a new
routine but I'm beginning to think we need to start from scratch with a very
young puppy.
