Hello Everyone,
Hope you all had a nice weekend!
Just wanted to post a few questions that have popped into my head more
than once, if any of you can offer advice or the answers to any of the
following, that would be great!
1. What do you recommend? I have 2 males and would like to add more to
the family, should I get another pair ( my 2 now are quite bonded), how
should I go about this when the time comes, should I have them meet each
other first, that is what I did when we got Louis? My guys are quite
(extremely spoiled, they get lots of attention) and have strong
personalties, do they mind change!
2. My youngest Louis is 7mths (My little baby boy), I am almost 100% (I
have made a Dr. app. to be certain) sure he is deaf, is there any advice
on how to make life easier on them, or should I just treat him the same and
Binks as his older Brother, he doesn't seem to startle that easy but is
extremely vocal when playing (squeals, schreeches, I know he is not being
hurt, he will do htis even before Binks puts a paw or tooth on him) I have
read this to be normal anyone out there with the same expirence(s) ?
3. I have noticed that Binks ( just turned 1 last week) has lost quite a
bit of weight (slowly), this I am sure is do to the seasonal weight change,
but just to be safe I have made an Dr. app. for a check-up, my vet is
great ( she deals with all the ferts from the Ottawa Ferret Ass.) What
illnesses have the side effects of weight loss, what tests do you think she
will or should do, if any? Is there anything else I should feed him to
help him gain some more weight, he is quite active ( loves to run)? I am
still trying to find a food that he enjoys (a lot), he loves the 8 in 1
Fruit Crunch, but that can't be used as a base food, what should I try, a
buffet style and see what one seems to be eaten more frequently?
4. Is there any supplements or vitamins that are recommended to give to
your ferts as an addition to the regular food and treats to keep them in
better health?
5. I am not well informed about these ferret shows/exhibitions etc., can
someone let me know where/when they are, I would love to get more involved
and possibly attend some!
6. I always seem to worry that there one of my fuzzies might be not well
or that am over looking something ( with all the info. on the web, one
can become quite paranoid) Is there any common Signs that should I should
be alerted by and seek vet attention? ( I know this is a broad question,
but it seems that now a days the illnesses that keep occurring are often
similar or the same ie: adrenal) I just don't want to be naive and over
look something!
7. What type of treats or special meals does anyone recommend I make for
a my Fuzzbutts (love that nickname), Any recipes out there? I have picky
eaters!
8. Who would you say would be the most knowledgeable Ferret Vet/Specialist
in North America? (This is a piece of info. I would like to have in my
records)
9. What type of help can I provide to any of the Ferret Shelters, I do
not have a lot of money but would like to be able to help in some way, if
possible?
10. If you could give any ferret owner one piece of advice, What would it
be?
If anyone with experience or knowledge who would like to respond to any one
of this questions or requests for opinions or to even add some info. that
they think I should know, that would be fabulous! There is never enough
information I can know about my Weasel Men.
I truly love my Ferrets with all of my Heart and want to provide them with
the Happiest, Healthiest, Safest LIFE as possible !!!!
