I've seen lots of solutions for keeping ferrets from digging through the
mesh on the bottom of a couch, etc., except for what we did....
We just removed the darn stuff.  I suppose it serves some purpose, though
what that is escapes me.  Maybe it's just to give it a finished appearance
but I don't have many guests (or myself) crawling under the couch to check
out the finish.
 
With nothing under the couch to dig at, and just wide open spaces overhead, the
ferrets have nothing to dig at.  Sure, they'll often sleep under the couch, but
no longer try to get "in" it.
