It seems that the average ferret born and raised in the U.S. has a lifespan
of about 6 to 8 years.  Of course, there are those that live longer by a
year or two and some shorter, but that seems to be about the average.
 
Our first ferret died at 7 while there is an 8 year old at our shelter that
is as frisky and young looking as a two year old and looks like he's got a
lot left in him.
