Although there sadly seem to not be as many pets surviving around the
World Trade Towers as we all would have wanted, there are pets all over
the world whose owners died there or at the Pentagon. There's a network
right now letting volunteers know about some as they show up, but shelters
everywhere are going to have these animal orphans (or fosters when their
owners are badly injured, or displaced, or called up for military service.
Check shelters near you!

Pam Sessoms is putting a list in the files section of the Ferret Health
List of people willing to foster for those in the military and reserves.
To be included you may reach her at [log in to unmask]; to use the
files look in the Files section at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ferret-Health-list ;
also look at the SOS list there since some shelters are fostering or
already collecting names of those who may be able to foster and the SOS
list is the single most comprehensive list right now to potentially help
those who will be serving in this hard time. If you can foster, then it
might pay to also let your local shelters know by using the SOS list;
some are snowed under with work right now but a few have been able to
begin a list of foster homes.

There are heros out there.
