I just have a quick question about water receptacles. I am using a wide
mouth water bottle for my ferrets. About once a night I wake up to one
of my girls choking on water. I am sure she is just drinking too fast,
but wakes me up and scares me at first anyhow. Another issue I have with
the bottle is not that it leaks, but that the majority of the water that
comes out of the tube lands on the floor, making for smelly, wet litter.
I have tried to put a dish underneath it, but it never works the way it
should. I am currently keeping my food in one of those nice crocks that
attach to the side of the cage (where you can remove the crock without
having to unscrew the whole setup). Can I use those to put water in? I
think it may cut back on the choking and the spillage. I have one that
is bigger and a lot more shallow than the food dish. Has anyone tried
this before? Would it or could it work?
