My two ferrets started shedding around three weeks ago.  We live in MI.
When Calvin was little like your babies, I never noticed any shedding.  I
believe they need to have a "winter coat" before they shed.  Calvin was
sick last winter and didn't really develope a winter coat.  This winter
he was poofy and beautiful.  Now they are looking a little skinny.
 
I also never realized the ferts grew winter coats until I started reading
FML.  People were talking of moving from a warm state to a cold one during
the winter time.  Do they then develope a winter coat or not until the
following season?
