Warning: this may be another false alarm so don't jump; we all know that
Meltie has come back from more critical situations!

Meltdown is eating and drinking but neither has been willingly at
maintenance levels since she had that short weekend GI bug. Her bowels have
been back to normal for over a day and she does not complain of any pain.
(Meltdown IS one to complain.) She's not flat out -- she's even let us know
that she is frustrated but if she tries to do what she wants to do that will
kill her, so other than her short bouts when we let her have a touch of
exercise -- and which then collapse her even when we are careful -- it's
like she's going through the paces and eating and drinking more for us than
for her. A few times we've had to force feed and force water her in case
she needed to be gotten started, but there are real limits to how fair that
is to anyone who is terminal.

Today is Hanan's day off, and her situation does not appear to be critical
so we have left a message for tomorrow asking if it would be possible to up
her Winstrol to 1/2 of a tablet twice a day. Given that she IS almost 8
years and 5 months and her cardiomyopathy HAS been going on for just shy of
11 months, we figure that anything which MAY help but will not cause an
immediate threat or pain is probably worth it since she's very much been at
point for a long time where practically everything ELSE in life DOES pose an
immediate threat!

We should send so MANY people public thanks for information and suggestions
throughout all this, but the list is long enough to appall Bill! We
certainly send out private thanks, but today we DO need to publically thank
two folks who let us know things which have recently helped in very large
ways: Dayna let us know that she was advised that any type of color section
ink is safe if the pages are folded within a few B&W pages, and Kelleen
reminded us how much Meltdown has always loved carob (Meltdown is off most
of her treats.) so we got her some carob chips which have helped us keep up
her caloric intake for the last day.
