Some houseplants are highly poisonous for ferrets, dogs, cats, or some
other animals so ALWAYS check houseplants with lists of what is safe
enough and what is not. Losing a ferret to poisoning is one of the
saddest losses because most case of poisoning could have been avoided.

Here are just a tiny few of the most common plant causes of poisoning
for pets in the U.S. When people say "tree-like" I always wonder if
it may be a sego "palm" which is a highly poisonous plants that also
should not be in home with small children who don't yet have sense as
well as becoming easily deadly for pets:
