Sweden, Ireland and the United Kingdom are rabies free too. In
Sweden and the UK we've got lots of ferrets, I don't know about
the others.

But I don't think this will help you in any way. Since we don't
have rabies it says nothing about any "rabies problem" anywhere
else.

I might mention that we don't have any approved rabies vaccine
for ferrets in Sweden, and this is the first year cats and dogs
have been allowed to be vaccinated against it at all. After
beeing vaccinated, anti-body tested and ID marked with an
implanted chip they don't have to be put in quarantine. Ferrets
are still always subjected to four months quarantine. The British
are stricter and do not rely on any vaccination.

They sure do like to dig! I've found that they love the kind of
soil I put in flowerpots best, so that's what I give them to play
with. I've got a large cardboard box they can jump into, where
I've put a bucket of soil. As long as it doesn't get to dry and
dusty, it's actually very little of a problem.

I wish my ferrets came equipped with drag chutes.
