I would definitely recommend further workup on Tom - more xrays for sure,
and bloodwork if it hasn't been done already.  He may need specialized
xrays with a dye to determine if something like a herniated disk is
pressing on his spinal column, but this is something that needs to be
pursued and evaluated.  Pain on spinal pressure can be due to a number of
things, and all of them need to be looked into in order to help Tom.
