I need help! I adopted a little boy 5-6 y.o. whose owner took him to the
vet to be euthanized. This was after a tentative diagnosis of insulinoma.
She agreed to let them place him and he became mine nearly 2 weeks ago. He
had exploratory surgery yesterday. It appears he does not have insulinoma.
Doc took two tiny tissue samples to go to pathology, one from the pancreas
and one from a lymph node that was a little swollen. There was a rubber
thingy in his tummy and it was removed.

Cedes has been eating A/D and Gerber's chicken for the two weeks I've had
him. I have to sit and hand feed him. He will rarely eat any if I just
leave the bowl for him. His teeth were also in terrible condition.
Between the teeth and the rubber, that was the most comfortable thing for
him to eat, I suppose. He has gained quite a bit of weight since I got
him. He was below 2 lbs. and he has gained several ounces. I also had
his teeth cleaned yesterday. His upper canines are in terrible condition
(very brown) but he doesn't use those to chew, of course. I would LOVE to
get him back on to kibble and he's not one bit interested. Knowing their
disposition, I can't let him just starve himself to death because I want to
be stubborn about it, as in, you eat this or you eat nothing! The entire
time I've had him, kibble has been available. I switch kinds every day or
two but he hasn't eaten one single piece.

He came to me eating Friskies Ocean Flavor. I can't even get him to eat
that. At this point, I will gladly let him eat the Friskies until I can
wean him over to the good stuff. Any suggestions??

He is a gorgeous light sable, has had no known vet care, no vaccinations,
and has a full, soft, shiny coat. His nails had been trimmed but his ears
were pretty filthy. The previous owner had him for about 3 years and she
thinks the owner before that had him 2 1/2 -3. I can assure you that he's
with me for good. I have him separated from the others and he will remain
so until his stiches are out. He came with a beautiful 4 level cage and
he's living in that now. I have removed the ramps so he won't try to climb
since he just had surgery.

Any suggestions to get him on to kibble again would be greatly appreciated.
I had thought of putting ground kibble into the A/D-Gerbers but don't know
if that would work. HELP!
