Giesela is my territorial, prey driven little sprite that I walk almost
every day. Behind my house, between my yard and the open field is a 8 foot
wide span of spaced out trees with underbrush. The chipmunks and ground
squirels moved there out of the yard after I got the dog. So Giesela tracks
around sniffing and digging at all the holes while dragging her hot pink (so
I can see her since she sort of blends) leash. Now I don't keep my eyes on
her every second - I scan the field for dog walkers etc. I looked down and
she had her head under some grass hanging over a patch of mulchy dirt. She
was definately chewing on something - I immediately thought grub or
catapiller (I've seen her eat a worm and found half a catapiller under the
couch once with her standing their gagging). I grabbed her and she had a
mouse? or mole? I was so freaked I never did really examine it. I shook
and shook shouting drop it! but she wasn't about to let go. I finally
swing it against a branch and it dropped. Sheesh. I don't know if it was
dead, sick or she actually caught it (moles can be pretty easy). She wanted
it pretty bad but no way. Of course she still usually puts up her nose at
the meat people eat. I'm not a fan of hunting but she would be in heaven if
I was (or it was legal).
