Had a question from someone here whether gennets are related to ferrets.
No, they aren't.  Gennets and other members of Viverridae arose separately
on a totally different continent from different ancestors.  Some other
Viverrid members you will recognize are linsang, civit, mongoose, and
fossa.  Interesting animals but NOT mustelids.  Why do they look so much
alike?  They filled pretty well the same niches and had similar pressures.
