I wrote this (and just found it) after I took Pepe to the vet one time.

You moved me today
When you laid in my arms
for the very first time
so still for almost fifteen minutes.
And when I let you down to explore
you came back to me
and asked to be held
with "Please?"
in your eyes.
It was then I knew
that you knew
I am the one who will do anything
to comfort you -
to ease your worries
and your pains.
You held so tight
and actually shivered
a little.
As pititful as you looked
and as desperately as you plead,
I am sorry, but it is her job...
I had to let the vet take your temperature.
