A few years ago I had 3 ferrets, and my brother had to move and gave me his
grey-cheeked parrot, Sammy. Sammy hated the ferrets and "buzzbombed" them
while screeching incessantly (he flew loose around the house). Sweet Pea, a
silver female ferret who was very sensitive to loud noises, could not STAND
Sammy, nor did she like getting her nose pecked. After one year of mutual
hate, Sweet Pea did the unthinkable. I noticed Sammy was not screeching, and
I walked into the ferrets' room -- Sweet Pea was in the cage, puffed out as
though electrically charged, protectively hunched over Sammy's bloody
carcass, and was PLUCKING him. It was really horrible. I have heard other
stories of ferrets opening bird's cages to get to them. Another ferret of
mine, Gizmo, loved to chase birds in the park -- sparrows, pigeons, and ducks.
It was the only time she really got aggressive. In short, I would say that
ferrets and parrots are not the best combination -- both of them are
dangerous to each other. Even close supervision did not help in my case.

A recent post spoke of the ferret dunking her head in the Epsom-salts water
-- My Misty, when she drinks, submerges her entire head up to her ears. We
once had a large mug, and she climbed over the edge, stuck her face in,
and submerged in the water down to her shoulders so that she was swishing her
nose on the bottom of the water-filled mug. Her eyes were closed, and she
blew a constant stream of tiny bubbles out of her nostrils. It was really
funny! I have no idea why she does this. She will also submerge in the
bathroom sink if it is full of water. However, she HATES baths.
