Hello friends,

I discovered something the other day that might be of concern to many of you
readers out there. My brother brought some nylon collars for me from the
US, since I can't find any here in Istanbul small enough for my ferrets.
They looked very nice, but I was horrified to discover after a week that
Rikki's had grown so tight he was nearly strangled! It seems that his
scratching (we've been battling fleas) had caused the collar to fray, and
the fibers in the weave to bunch up. The collar became distorted and
significantly tighter as a result. I had to cut it off him, poor baby.
Needless to say, I tossed out all four my brother bought for me.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Does it hold true for the elasticized
collars as well? Isn't anyone making tiny leather collars? I had a
supplier of some at my favorite pet store in Sydney when we all lived
there--they were only about 5 mm wide and very comfortable for the ferrets.
The pet store got them from a woman who made them to order. But I have
never seen them anywhere else.

All the best,

Sue
