Dear Emmett fans,

Well, it doesn't look like insulinoma--but two vets and a lab tech looked
at Em's test results and (quote) they SEEM "incompatible with life."

First thing tomorrow morning (if he's still with us) Emmett goes in for a
re-test!

To summarize: he has severely-elevated calcium, protein, liver enzymes, and
blood urea nitrogen levels.

(How high? Calcium: 24.9 when normal is about 11
Protein: 19.5 when normal is 7
Liver enzymes: I didn't catch the names, but one is 1500
when normal is 250; another is 1476 and normal is 99
Blood urea nitrogen: 93 when normal BUN is 40 in other words,
                                "sky" high!)

I hope to know more tomorrow. If the elevations are due to kidney failure,
that is puzzling as his urine seems normal and he doesn't seem to be in pain.

One hypothesis: we may be observing the peri-neoplasmic effect of
hypercalcemia caused by lymphosarcoma. This is not, of course, confirmed.

Thanks for your continuing support and kind words. My little anomaly has
been mostly resting in his sleepy-bag at home, but he is eating and drinking
and pooping and peeing, and he can walk around, but doesn't much. He would
say thank you to everybody if he could type!

I hope to send more news on Saturday. Snuggles and hugs to all fuzzbeans!
