Pine shavings have compounds that get into the air. These compounds are
not good for fuzzies of any kind to breath. Essentially, you end up
forcing the animal to breath gunk that clogs up little lungs and gives them
respiratory problems. Most wood stove pellets are made from hard woods (so
they'll burn a long time) which don't have the oils etc that cedar, pine,
etc contain--compounds that contribute to respiration problems.

My litter boxes have never smelled so good since I switched to Stove
Pellets about a year ago. They break down into a sort of dust when used
and do a great job of absorbing both liquid and odours. They are extremely
cheap (I think we pay $3.95 for a 40 lb sack) and flush easily.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
Matthew
