Sharon, I read your letter and I have a sable female ferret with the same
problem.  She is almost three now, but a week after I brought her home I
noticed that one of her canine teeth stuck out - straight into her lip
leaving an indentation.  I talked to the vet about what I should do and she
recommended avoiding removal of the canine tooth because it would cause a
lot of pain for the little fuzzie.  The vet told me that as long as she was
eating and the tooth did not change color (black from decay) that it should
be fine.  Three years later, I have a healthy ferret and she eats without a
problem.  Good luck with your fuzzie!
