To Mary Allen: Based on postings from other folks in the past, I would
suggest you look up insulinomas in the ferret FAQ and take your furrball
to the vet. Dr. Williams may have more to say on this.
 
To Matt: It sounds to me like your ferret may have a full-on upper
respiratory infection with all the mucus and a visit to the vet for some
antiobiotics would be indicated to prevent his condition from developing
into pneumonia.
