Can't say that I noticed watery eyes as a side effect but a couple of years
ago one of ours went on prednisone for a short while following prologned
diahrrea for which other medications had failed. She proved to have side
effects that included vomiting just after being medicated, and a loss of
energy and desire to eat. While realizing there is a large difference
between ferrets and humans, my daughter in law (who is an RN) showed us a
list of side effects in humans for prednisone and one of the more common was
strong nausea.

HOWEVER, don't take this to indicate that I'm saying prednisone causes this
effect all the time. It has been used on some of our others with good
results and without any obvious side effects. (Also bear in mind I have _NO_
medical background myself.)

I have a sticky ferret! Our newest, now just six months and 3 lbs, decided
to observe breakfast the other morning. In order to get a better view he
climbed up the back of a chair so he could look down on the proceedings.
This proved not to produce quite the desired proximity to events taking
place and leaning forward didn't seem to help. Eventually and without
further warning he leaped! Across the intervening gap, landing belly first
on top of the plate of English muffins which were covered in butter and
marmalade. However, this is where momentum came in to play. 3 lbs hitting
a plate at a 20 degree landing angle doesn't stop. It continues along with
the muffins onto the rug. Attempts to avoid a second bad landing result
only in hitting the rug in a ball of muffin, weasel and marmalade. Hence my
weasel is sticky. Even now, two days later, we are finding evidence of this
momentus event.
