IMHO I can certainly understand Dr. Dutton's (or any other DVM's)
disclaimer about advice posted here. I would hope we are all able to
understand that such information, (as with just about any other information
put on the Internet via mailing lists, news groups etc.), has to be treated
as supplementary to more conventional methods and not an alternative.

I would hope we don't abuse or use it in such a way that our contributing
DVM's no longer feel able to offer such advice and education to us. I have
found the various DVM responses to be very helpful in explaining what is
going on and what the treatments are for the assortment of ailments that our
ferrets have developed. I still rely foremost on examination and diagnosis
by our vetinarian, who is also very skilled with ferrets.
