I have been away from the computer due to illness but as I glance through
the FML of the last couple of days I see more questions about S.O.S.
 
I don't understand this at all!  I am very happy to have S.O.S. so I may
send in my money and have S.O.S. distribute to the neediest shelters.  To
the people or person questioning, my advice is give to a shelter of your
choice if you are not happy.
 
These three women and one other have taken the time to raise funds, become
501C, and although they will not tell the FML I know they put more of
their money into mailing, stamps, etc.  than ever came from the S.O.S.
funds, not to say anything of the time they take from their 'life' and
family.
 
I felt very privileged to collect the Canadian Dollars for the Kouri Klub
so it would mean just one money order and a couple of stamps instead of
wasting individual money for M.O.  and stamps.  That way I could help out
in some little way.
 
I try to bite my tongue (or fingers) and not respond to posts I disagree
with on the FML as I think it is a learning tool to see the other side of
things but in this case I am very sad to think that people trying to help
in some way are questioned every few months.
 
Whenever I have read a S.O.S. message I also read that they encourage you
to send money directly to a shelter but if you want it distributed by a
501C then send to S.O.S.
 
I have received a thank you card from S.O.S. and my thoughts were....
"don't have to thank me, the card and postage could buy a treat!"
 
Rather than citicizing just get out there and do the same thing.  There is
plenty of room for raising money for shelters.
