Heavens No, you are not hurting them.  I live in Michigan and most of the
summer it was even too hot here for them to be outside.  It has cooled
down now so it is safe for them.  I have a large wooden pen my husband
made for them and I carry them out to the pen and I always stay right
there to supervise them.
