Dear Fellow Ferret Folks,
This is from Susie Lee who had to close the doors of The Ferret & Dove
Sanctuary after the death of my husband and partner Wes Hurley on
October 10th, 2010. Just days ago I've heard from Author Piers Anthony
that the Sanctuary has been mentioned in the Author's Note (yes! On
page 302!)and I sent a note of thanks with a printed out version of
my own of "Secret, The Santa Ferret" and then, after fielding several
calls per evening and very cheerfully recommending other ferret
shelters, sent another appreciative note to the author, wherein I
would like to share his reply, as follows! :)

Thank you for your note. We have printed it for Piers Anthony and he
gave us the following answer for you:

I'm glad it's working out. I'll run the new information in my Dismember
2010 column, and try to get it into the paperback edition of Knot
Gneiss. I received your snail letter with the pictures and the story of
Santa Ferret, which does explain how Santa gets into chimneyless houses
and apartments. I'm also glad that my mention of the ferrets is helping
to get a few more placed, despite the shutdown of the Sanctuary. There
should be more queries when the paperback edition appears next year.

I have been in nearly a transport of Joy from your kindnesses and can
nearly feel my deceased spouse, Wes Hurley, right at my side, As
approving and just-as-happy.

Even though I've had to close our Ferret & Dove Sanctuary, thanks to
the kind mention in your book I've been fielding callers who express
interest in adopting one or more ferrets and have been VERY Happily
recommending them to other shelters of which we both know are many and
packed with loving fur-kids each needing responsible homes. Just the
mention has tossed a little stone of recognition for the NEED to adopt
into the wider pond of the general public's consciousness which looks
like it's already doing Good. You've helped give me a renewed sense of
purpose and to at least try to keep the web-pages opened, with which,
again, I shall be overjoyed to HELP "pay it forward" in what ways and
manner that i can.

I have also posted the mention of fellow-ferret-enthusiast mailing list
published daily from which i'd recieved several e-mails of people who
also have enthused warmly about you and whom I've written back to beg
them to Please tell you themselves, knowing you very much derserve to
hear that appreciation and enthusiasm from each reader, regardless of
their ages or stations, but at the very least I felt I could let you
know THAT I'd gotten a number of enthusing and appreciating other folks
in reply to my mentioning your name and the recent release of "Knot
Gneiss".
