I brought my youngest fert, Gwydion, in for his first vaccinations today.
All went well.. no reactions, healthy in all respects. Gwydion is a
blaze/panda and is pretty much deaf. I say pretty much because I wouldn't
bet my life on it, but I would bet money. ;) I had seen someone mention on
here that MF gave a 50% store credit to someone who bought a deaf ferret..
I figured that was nifty, so I called MF, who told me to call PetCo, who
told me to get a vet's opinion. Well, the vet told me that while he can't
guarantee it, he can certainly give me a letter saying that his clinical
opinion is that Gwydion is deaf. No problem there. I called PetCo after
to see whether I bring the letter in to the store, send it to MF, etc..
and urgh! That store frustrates me to no end. Now, I have no problem
with PetCo's in general.. but all the employees at this one seem to be
customer-service challenged. I work in a hospital where customer service
is *heavily* stressed and it amazes me how horrible these pet store emp
loyees are when it comes to satisfying customers.

When I called them today, the transferred me to three people before I got
someone who could supposedly help me, only to be told that all the managers
were out for the week at a conference and nobody at the store had any idea
what I was talking about. She basically told me to bugger off and call
back next week. Normally I wouldn't have been that frustrated, but I've
had many other bad experiences with them lately.

We all know what was going on with Totally Ferret.. well, once I heard
that Performance Foods was back to shippping out good batches, I went in
(waited about a week first) to PetCo to see if they had any. I asked an
employee if they had any and was replied to with a "What's Totally Ferret?
Did we ever carry it?" Hrm. Well, through much pushing, I found out that
there would be a big shipment coming in a few days hence. I show up the
evening that the shipment came in and asked an employee if they got any TF
in. The employee said "I don't know" and left it at that. Okay.. I went
up to another employee and asked the same thing.. this one told me that he
didn't know, it wasn't all unpacked, and to come back in a day or two. By
that point I was getting very frustrated.. well, to make a long story
short, I ended up going in three or four more times asking for it and it
was like pulling teeth to get anything more than "I don't know" for an
answer. One employee told me that they had been getting tons of reque sts
for it but that he had no idea what it was. Urgh!

I know that complaining here won't help the problem any.. but it makes me
feel better. :)

On to my question.. does anyone go tent camping with ferrets? My
boyfriend and I bought a tent and plan on starting camping and we'd love
to take the ferrets along. What we plan is this: go to a campground on
our own first to see how it is, then after that take our three ferrets with
us and keep them in a dog carrier in the tent when they're not out playing
on their leashes. Any tips/ideas/opinions?

Thank ya much in advance.
