There is shelter in Gainesville/Newberry.  The club there is Ferretmeisters
and I believe the shelter is at the Northend (Northside??) Animal Hospital
on Newberry Road (Dr. Deborah Kemmerer).
 
By the way, where do you live?  I live in Tallahassee and would love to find
some more ferret owners in the area.
