Chris,
 
My vet and her tech (who also is a rescue mom and has had up to 40 ferrets)
told me a few years ago, don't give milk as it contains lactose.  Instead,
give Mocha Mix (original, not fat free).  This is like milk but lactose
free and my ferrets love it!
