Re: phone minutes: actually Steve works for a telecommunications company so
we've asked Debbie to pick out a shelter of her choosing and and pass them
on to there.

Carrie, I hate it when pet stores give wrong information, and it happens
OFTEN in relation to ferrets. The ONLY shot a pet store kits typically has
is the first in the canine distemper series. The series must be continued
with the right timing to be effective. There will also be the rabies shot
later on.

You need sources of accurate information and you need to find a
ferret-knowledgeable vet near you. I suggest that you start by going to
http://www.ferretcentral.org (not .com since that's something completely
different and much more recent) and read the texts there. You will find
the links useful in helping you find a vet locally and for learning other
information. (BTW, I used to have a weight-training friend in Cambridge
with whom I've lost touch named Lisa Santoro and still smile when I recall
our conversation when I thought "San Toro" instead of "Sant Oro".)

Linda, Last I heard ECE is still a diagnosis of exclusion, with no test
commercially available. Bruce Williams tends to be VERY diligent about
letting us know when such things have changed. I'll ask him about this,
but right now he's really tied up so it may take a week or two to hear
back. The corona virus HAS certainly been identified, but that is not the
same as being able to have an affordable test and I don't know how hard
this one is in relation to testing.
