Pam: I have seen many animals, including ferrets, whose gums would look
more or less pale depending on a whole host of factors including activity
and ambient temperature.  A measure of the ferret's hematocrit (also called
a PCV) and hemoglobin should answer any question on whether your ferret is
anemic.
