Hello Carolyn,

I understand your dilemma. Understandably. IN sheltering there are
differences. One of these differences may come into play with the rescue-.
SPCA had to inspect and approve the shelter which would be responsible. In
this case it was Kista Rescue. Organized humane shelters will not part
responsibility for groups off to numbers of ferret rescues-- they usually
assign one the responsibility. It is up to that individual organization to
meet the specifications of the agreement-- holding times, vet requirements
etc. I am sure as I type that some of these ferrets will be moving to
other rescues-- AFTER the quarantine time is met!!!

I am also sure there was no intentional slight by Kista. It is an
overwhelming task, one with a multitude of requirements from the agency
who is liable for any misconduct etc. Please don't raise eyebrows and
questions there are legal ramifications here-- a chain of evidence etc.
The situation is being carried out in a sound method. It is the intention
the ferrets will not be placed into situations in the future where they may
face further jeopardy.

Just another cruelty workers pinion.

Alicia
