We had Addisons symptoms start in one the same day as surgery.

Notice in
http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/addisons.htm
that what is said is "usually WITHIN 2 to 3 days" (emphasis mine), not
"AFTER".

Fludrocort (generic Florinef) works as well as Florinef.

If the ferret has a GI problem like IBD go with Percorten instead;
otherwise the Fludrocort/Florinef can pass too rapidly.

When the ferret is under stress, esp. bodily stress, or gains a decent
bit of weight larger doses are needed.

We like Chewweasels and Foamy Fries for dental and gum health.

Some individuals are prone to being worse than others and certain
illnesses or medical conditions can underlie that at times. If memory
serves for off-hand recollection (though I urge you to look it up),
kidney disease, IBD, ADV and heart disease (yeah, effects in both
directions, with each able to worsen the other) can each worsen mouth
health in some individuals, and probably some other things can as well.

We have not had our ferrets have such problems except with underlying
disease; experiences will vary.
