I've read with amusement your trials with your new computer, then it occurred
to me you are suffering from the same problem as many who fear ferrets:
ignorance and lack of familiarity.
 
As someone who has lived with computers for years, I can assure you they make
loving and friendly pets. Do not be swayed by bad press. If you learn about
your computer and treat it gently, it will be a friend to you for years. If
you fear it, and leave it lonely on the desk, it will learn to fear you.
