I replied to a post about a six yr old ferret that showed wheezing noises
and suggested a chest xray +/- an ultrasound of the heart to check for
heart disease b/c this is likely in an older ferret with such signs but it
is not the only possible cause of the signs. Yesterday someone else posted
about a young ferret with similar signs and they had seen my previous post
and were worried about their ferret having heart disease too. While this
is possible, it is unlikely based on the ferrets age. A chest xray would
still be advised to check for anything abnormal in the chest (for eg.
lymphoma) and if the xray were normal then I wouldn't worry as much as it
may just be a noise that your ferret makes and not have any pathologic
cause. Hope this helps!
