Dear FML Folks,
Here's my e-mail to the WNEW folks:

You guys ought to get your facts straight and try supporting the side of
justice and fairness and if not that at least good science:

Very disappointed to hear about the Health Department ruling. It never
ceases to amaze me how these people clearly cannot be basing their actions
on real science. I have a Ph.D. in developmental biology and it
infuriates me to hear about this. My elderly dad "keeps" abandoned cats in
his Bronx apartment terrace and nearly died from a cat bite 1-1/2 years ago
(he ALMOST lapsed into full sepsis from it but my mom forced him to go into
the hospital on an emergency basis when he started to talk incoherently).
Why doesn't the Health Department beef up the Animal Control Department,
penalize pet owners who desert cats and dogs in neighborhoods and so on?
That would do wonders for public health.

Dad has attempted more times than I can count to get the cats picked up.
They say, "catch them and hold them until we can come by" and this to an
80+ year old man. Ridiculous!

And of course we've all heard about a number of cases of rabies from
ferrets, of serious bites from ferrets, of ferrets marauding in parks
killing birds, of ferrets cornering children in parks and terrifying them,
of ferrets reproducing all over and having mating frenzies in our yards....
NOT!!!

Fertlovers and PROUD of it!
