Yep, my Digger does that, too.  It's just an overactive hoarding
instinct! :-)  Digger came from (a decent) pet store and from MF
before that, so he's never been starved in his life.  He will stash
a bunch of food and then settle down to eat at the bowl.
 
It's really funny when he does all of that work to hide all of that food,
and then his brother follows behind eating it!
