Susan,
        My vet actually recommended Dimetapp for Pandora
when she had her awful cold.  It did seem to help her
breathe.  She also suggested Vicks for vaporizers--a liquid
you put in the vaporizer water--and keeping the vaporizer
going into her cage.
        Unfortunately for Pandora, all of these measures failed.
But it did seem to help her breathing some and let her sleep
well, which she also couldn't do at first.
