I, too, (well, Gracie actually) have experienced food getting lodged across
the roof of a mouth. The first day I had Gracie, an oval shaped piece of
food got stuck across her palate. Fortunately, it wasn't a big ordeal to
remove it (I just pried it out with my finger) but I wonder what could have
happened had I not noticed.

I'm having virtually no luck finding Gracie a friend in our area. She is
sooo sweet and kissy and the cats just aren't skillful at playing ferret
games. After some thought, though, I'm in a quandry. I don't know if she
would "take to" another ferret. I don't know if I should get a kit or an
adult. Is it a good idea to take her WITH me to help pick out her new
friend? If I get a kit then I will probably end up with a biter for awhile
until trained. If I get an adult, I may get a biter that has other bad
habits as well. Any suggestions? Gracie is a one year old. Also, once I
find her a friend (I'd REALLY like to adopt from a shelter rather than a
pet shop!!) what is the best way to introduce a new ferret? Should they be
caged separately and if so, for how long? Should a kit be caged separately
until it is "big"? Gracie has run of the house except for when she is
sleeping and I really don't want her to feel displaced as she has found
heaven since coming to live with us. (Her old owners kept her continually
caged in a tiny cage with PINE SHAVINGS and a bowl of food and a bowl of
water. She didn't even have a litter box!...)

I would appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks
Renee and Gracie
