Hi all,

I'm reposting a request for help that I sent to the TRIFL mailing list in
NC. If anyone has any information on this strange set of symptoms, I'd
appreciate the input. No candy/licorice or other strange food was eaten.
Nothing is missing from my apartment, neither ferret has been around any
other ferrets since last month and neither has been outside for at least
three weeks. Both ferrets are female--Gizmo is 17 months old and Peanut is
6 months old and they have never been sick with anything but a cold before.
Thanks for any help you can give me...

 [ *** reposted story ***]
I returned home after being out all day on Saturday to find several small
piles of puke dispersed in Gizmo and Peanut's cage. I was worried, but
not overly so and let them out to play as usual, while I cleaned the
mess--figured someone just had an upset tummy. Both were energetic and
alert. After cleaning, I went to play with them and saw a pile in one of
their favorite corners of the living room. This turned out to be pure
blood--I couldn't even tell if it was puke or poop. PETS in Durham said
they couldn't help me with ferrets and referred me to Dan Johnson in Cary.
Since I still didn't know WHO was so sick, I took both out to see him at
9:30pm. Both have loose stools and slight fevers and he gave me antibiotics
for both. Other than that, he couldn't find anything too wrong--no blood
anywhere. They're home now and in separate cages so I can determine the
"bleeder". Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Nothing is
missing from the apartment that I can see, so I don't think anything was
eaten. Both are pooping, so we don't think it's a blockage. Both are
eating and drinking. Gizmo does probably have tonsillitis, but Dr. Johnson
didn't think that would cause the bleeding/vomiting. HELP! I can't stand
to think one or both might be really sick.
