thank you for listing the headquarters addy for petco....ive been hopeing
to get a hold of it, so that i could write how pleased i was on one of my
ventures out to get a ferret.

i had just lost a VERY beloved ferret not long before when my spouse
insisted i go with him and pick out a ferret. i must say, wasnt that
thrilled....didnt really care, was still quite depressed and honestly, i
probably wasnt ready. but, spouse dragging me all the way to the ferret
cage in petco (one we have never bought ferrets from) and running off to
get a clerk. i sat there observing the cage which was the topical round
glass cage petco has, with the wire top. i noticed it was divided down
the middle...on one side they had very young kits, with a bowl of soft
mush and a sign stating, "not for sale." on the other side, were older
kits....the ones that were for sale.

to make a long story short, i ended up picking out two as the owner and
clerks asked me questions, actually seeing if i knew my ferrets. before
i even took them, i noticed they were highly socialized and mellow for
petstore fuzzies. everytime i have gone to petco to get a new ferret
(which yes, i go a lot and love them all), ive had social problems, major
biting problems, malnurished kits that i had to work hard on making them
a good pet.

its been a good 5-6 months and those babys i picked out are growing so big
and strong, and so playful and happy .....i didnt have to work with them
hardly at all, just basic nip training. i was so pleased with this petco
and respect them for not throwing the youngsters right out on the "market"
as soon as they get there....they gave them soft mush, made it clear they
werent for sale and took the time to give them the growing they needed
before sale. it truely made a difference and i just want to let the
headquarters know that they should be proud of them.

on another note...about this petco with half mink ferrets-correct me if im
wrong, but ive been told by a ferret and mink breeder that the two dont get
along at all. that minks actually would attack ferrets and they had to be
kept seperate. i could be wrong, i cant say its impossible. id believe
a polecat bred with them before a mink though....ive actually met half
polecat (basically a wild ferret jmho) and ferret and they are very high
strung, nippy and nervous-something very wild about them.

no biggy....do hope these ferrets are helped out wether their part
cougar. <G> no animal deserves to live in that situation and from personal
experience, ferrets can bite just because they're stressed-being weaned
from momma so early and then crammed in a cage with too many others would
sure make me grouchy!

take care......i appologize for going on so long!
