Thanks for all the great suggestions and ideas for creating a blockade so
that my ferrets couldn't get into my box springs.
 
We used industrial plastic sheeting and stapled it to the box springs.
Then, we used about 20 pieces of plywood for slats.  Even, if by some
chance, they get through the wood slats, we figured they wouldn't be able
to dig through layers of this stuff.  Thanks again.
