When the BioSpot for cats first came out, I asked my vet about it, and was
told that since it wasn't tested on ferrets, that I should stay away from
it. Today at work I received a magazine we get every month that is for
those in the pet industry. In the ferret section, they had an add for the
"new" BioSpot for cats and ferrets. It's the *exact* same thing as the
original for cats is, and says to use the exact same amout (one tube, which
lasts 3 months) that you would use on any cat. It has the same ingredients
and percentages as the current cat spot on (I checked the ad's picture
against the current we have in the store). The towelette that comes with
it is now safe from everything from gerbils to rabbits (and it's the same
towel, which wasn't labeled safe for those animals before). In the same
magazine they have an add for the BioSpot for cats (only), and of course
had a picture of a cat placed right in front of the ingredients on the
picture of the package. So, I don't know if they changed the formula
somehow to make it safe for cats only. I'm completely confused now. It
wasn't really safe for ferrets before, but now it is? Of course I left the
add and package of current BioSpot at work, but it did say that it was the
"only" spot on tested safe for ferrets. But this is the *same* stuff that
it always was! I am going to take the package to the vets next week, but
wanted input on this from anyone who is knowledgable in this area (of spot
ons). I can send any ingredients and percentages of the BioSpot to anyone
who is interested. My main concern is this....I have had people come in
wanting a spot on for ferrets, and I have always directed them to a vet.
I don't feel comfortable selling this stuff for dogs and cats, let alone
ferrets (I always tell people to check with their vet about the BioSpot
to get the vets OK first). I don't want to sell this stuff if it's not
OK...and I know that we will order the cat BioSpot, and they will just
start sending us the one in the packaging for cats and ferrets. I'm sorry
for such a long post, but this really has me curious....if you could help
ease my mind at all, please email me! I will probably call the company on
Monday, but want some info to arm myself with before I do.

Thanks!
