On a similar note....

Oppie was the very first ferret my family had the pleasure of being owned
by. When he was a kit, he lived in my room, and he had full run of the
upstairs while he was supervised. One day I was laying on my bed, and
Oppie jumps up next to me, with a face full of blood. I screamed,
convinced he was dying from some horrible ferret disease unknown to me
(considering this was our first ferret, and we had only had him for a few
weeks). But then why was he jumping around, seemingly oblivious to the
fact that he was bleeding to death? I could not find a cut on him, and
instead of calming down, I again convinced myself that this poor ferret was
bleeding internally and it was coming out of him mouth or nose (laugh at
me, but I was frantic!). I cleaned him up, and he went about his buisness.
I started calming down, and would check on his "wound" from time to time
during the day, but the only side affect Oppie was having, was the fact
that his face was dyed pink. Dyed? Hmmm....I didn't think about it until
the next day when the same thing happened. Now I was curious. He had
managed to get his "blood" all over my carpet and my bed. So I followed
him into my brother's room, and Oppie quickly disappeared under the bed.
What happened next was probably the funniest thing I've ever had a ferret
do....he came out from under the bed, dragging a now empty tube of "Dracula
blood" from my brother's Halloween costume! Life threatening disease, my
butt! :)

On a side note, you may remember me posting a month or so ago about
needing to find a home for some of my ferrets. Last week they went into a
wonderful home in NJ with Kathy, and have the biggest cage I have ever seen
all to themselves. They also have other ferret friends to play with...and
some other animals to befriend :) Thank you to anyone and everyone who
offered help, did help, or offered words of advice. I won't mention those
who felt the need to flame....

Take care everyone, and have a great weekend!
