I learned a trick from a woman I work with, who is a ferret-a-holic.
It's an awesome way to get your kids to hold still while you clip their
nails...and you only need ONE person...YOU!!!
 
Now, all this assumes that your fuzzies like ferretvite or some other
pasty treat... what I do is sit on the floor, you can alter floor
sitting for a chair....I place a strip of the ferretvite, like 4 inches,
on my thigh...from the knee up, wherever you're going to rest the
ferret...anyhow, while they're busy licking up the goodies, you trim the
front nails first, and whatever of the back nails you can get...just
stretch out their little fuzzy paws and they don't mind a thing.
 
Then, if they finish the treat before I finish the back nails, I hold
them on their backs, cradled in my arm, and put another strip of paste on
my hand, like the meaty part below the thumb, and grab the back paw with
that hand, while clipping their nails with the other...it works GREAT!!!
I get both of my girl's nails done in just a few minutes, and everyone's
happy...;
