ear sucking / road trip

My 11 week old Spike has been sucking on my Daisy's ears a lot in the last
few days - does this have to do with weaning, or should I be worried?
 
Also - we're going on a 5 hour road trip to Eastern Washington for the
weekend & will be going over the pass.  Is there anything we should know -
this is our first road trip with the ferts.  Will the elevation hurt their
ears???
